There’s an argument to be made that it really started with the Predator in 2013. Old Town designed a revolutionary fishing kayak that made it possible to confidently stand and cast from. In the years that followed, their hard work and continued investment in product development compounded exponentially.

They created the PDL Drive that propelled their boats with the mechanics of a recumbent bicycle. The AutoPilot integrated the coveted trolling motor and GPS anchoring from their sister-company Minn Kota. And in 2023 they launched the ePDL+ Drive, the first ever power-assisted pedal drive that brought e-bike technology to the water.

Word spread, a community grew, and in five short years Old Town’s Sportsman line had become the boat to own amongst casual anglers and tournament competitors alike.

But what about those who aren’t in it for the fishing? What if the best part of getting out on the water is the bumping tunes, the cold drinks, and the great company that you bring with you?

Old Town took their innovations and learnings from the Sportsman line, and applied them to three new recreational offerings that focused on the fun that comes from being one with the water.

Sonata 106 mk

If summer vibes were a kayak, it would be the Sonata 106 MK. The Sonata 106 MK is fully-motorized with a Minn Kota electric motor, controlled with an intuitive forward-and-reverse throttle and steered with your feet. It featured four marine-grade wireless Bluetooth speakers for your favorite music, podcast, or e-book. And when the sun goes down, flip on the LED cockpit lighting to keep the party going.

Malibu Pedal T

Designed based on their legendary Malibu models, the Malibu Pedal T is a spacious and comfortable tandem pedal kayak equipped with two forward-and-reverse pedal drives. Capable of navigating a variety of waterbodies, both passengers can pedal without worrying about being in-sync while the rear passenger easily steers the craft using an intuitive rudder control knob. Packed with cupholders, accessory tracks, rod holders, and plenty of gear storage, the Malibu Pedal T is ready for any outing for years to come.
